FOUNDERS

was developed by Laura Lin Gosbee, MASc and John Gosbee, MD, MS. They are internationally recognized experts in the area of improving safety in healthcare, and are the authors of numerous publications, including the book, Using Human Factors Engineering to Improve Patient Safety.

After their daughter was diagnosed with severe food allergies in 2002, they focused their attention on improving how food allergic patients (and their communities) can be better trained to manage medical emergencies.

They are also partners in Red Forest Consulting, LLC which provides human factors engineering (HFE) expertise to hospitals, medical device and pharmaceutical companies, and patient safety organizations. Red Forest Consulting helps their clients apply HFE to product and hospital design in order to reduce medical errors and adverse events. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

INSPIRATION

Rescue KT was inspired by the daughter of the founders of Rescue KT. Their daughter, "KT", is severely allergic to many foods (including peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, chocolate, lentils, chick peas/garbanzo beans, chili powder). Like so many other allergic kids, keeping her safe involves educating caregivers, family of her friends, her teachers, school lunchroom staff, etc about food allergies and how to respond to an anaphylactic reaction. With the goal of ensuring that caregivers are fully prepared for an emergency situation, Rescue KT was developed.
