DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Rescue KT and all it's materials were designed with human factors engineering design principles. These design principles are are based on applied research in the field of human factors engineeering, a multi-disciplinary field that combines engineering design with human psychology, kinesiology, and biometrics. Essentially, human factors engineering gives us an understanding of human capabilities and limitations (both cognitive and physical), and how we should design products that fit with inherent human traits. In doing so, we have developed products that are user-friendly and effective.

Human factors engineering is often adopted in other fields such as aviation, nuclear power, and the military to help reduce risks and errors, and enhance human performance. More recently, the healthcare industry has begun to recognize the importance of human factors engineering for improving patient safety and reducing errors in hospitals. We believe it should also be applied to all aspects of patient care (not just within the hospital setting) including teaching and helping patients manage chronic illnesses such as food allergies, an illness in which errors and unrecognized risks are serious threats to a patient's well being.

We are applying the same approach used in hospitals to improve patient safety and reduce medical errors, and adapting it to improve continuity of care for food allergic patients.
